Fishing

The name ‘Polhilsa’ has the meaning of rising springs and this is echoed by the fishing lakes situated at the Farm. Both lakes have been constructed within the last twelve years and are fed solely by rising spring waters.

Planted woodland hosting an abundance of wildlife surrounds the lakes. Guests are welcome to walk the banks looking for the many points of of natural interest, waterfowl and wildlife that’s in abundance.

Both lakes

Constructed in 1995, the Trout Lake covers approximately 1.5 acres of land. Stocked with rainbow trout of varying sizes, a good catch is guaranteed. Anglers can have their catch prepared for them or alternatively, frozen.

The Coarse fishing lake was constructed in early 1999 and stocked with Tench, Mirror Carp, Common Carp and Bream. Covering in the region of 3 acres, hosting 3 islands together with a complicated network of gullies, fishing in this lake is for the serious and patient angler.

A current NRA license obtainable from many Post Offices is required before you can fish the lakes.

Picnic facilities and BBQ are both available in the garden located beside the lakes.
